The Art Salon of the Muses

Last Halloween, I launched the Fairytale Film Archive.

Originally, it was only supposed to catalog and review films related to fairytales, folklore, mythology, and legend.

But over time, it started expanding into other things naturally.

Storytelling.
Astrology.
Fiction.
Books.
Symbolism.

At this point, it no longer makes sense to stay a section on my personal website.

It needs an entire site of its own and more art lovers.

So I’m creating a
Virtual Art Salon.

The salon will function in two hemispheres: public and private.

The public hemisphere will allow members to publicly share and review work within nine sections inspired by the muses:

Calliope — Storytelling
Clio — History, Aesthetics, Architecture
Erato — Erotic Art
Euterpe — Music
Melpomene — Tragedy
Polymnia — Religious Art and Architecture
Terpsichore — Dance and Theatre
Thalia — Idyllic Art
Urania — Occult Studies

The private hemisphere will be a password protected salon where members can share unfinished or more personal works, network privately, collaborate, and discuss projects behind closed doors.

Membership is governed by The Hours.

The Hours are based on the original goddesses of the seasons and are paid during Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

Winter is a non-billing season.

During this time, members are encouraged to add the usual cost of membership to their holiday budgets—and exchange gifts with other salon members when possible.

The Hours are $270.00 per season.

However, the first three muses to enter the salon will receive a discounted rate of $144.00 per season for the first year.

This will remain the permanent rate for the salon’s three administrators—including myself—also known as The Hours.

The application fee is $9 to submit your portfolio to the Muses.

We are currently looking for writers, artists, critics, researchers, designers, and content creators.

What does membership include?

  • The ability to submit writing and creative work for publication on the public website

  • An ad-free website experience that can be viewed by visitors without interruption

  • Access to a growing archive of commercial-use digital assets accessible to all salon members

  • Access to the password protected salon where members can share work that is too private, experimental, unfinished, or personal for the public website

  • Access to a modern virtual salon inspired by historical art salons, with a collective of members who actively care about art, culture, aesthetics, and creative discussion

All paintings are by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, featuring his core muses Elizabeth Siddal, Alexa Wilding, Fanny Cornforth, and Jane Morris.
